Are We There Yet?

The Subprime Mortgage Crisis brings back childhood memories: Me stuck in the back seat of a car wending its way endlessly to a Christmastime destination. My father’s steely “Nooo,” to my perfectly reasonable question, “Are we there yet?” I suppose from his point of view it was a question he might have felt he had answered too many times in the last ten minutes. Perhaps he also felt that the moving car was strong evidence that the question might be unnecessary. In any event, I distinctly detected his view that the question was annoying.

The subprime mortgage crisis is déjà vue, reviving that remembered feeling of boredom. But unlike the other “Are we there yet?” Nobody in the front seat actually knows when we will be at the end of this crisis. And I find that its most interesting aspect. Click below for more.
